No respecter of persons

There is so much talk today about inequality in our society. And the growing gap between the rich and the poor is problematic.

But this lesson so beautifully transcends this issue. "...God is no respecter of persons"! Acts 10:34

There is a danger in writing checks to charities to make oneself feel good, and yet at the same time never wanting to come in contact with those in need. We must get out of our comfort zone, for “by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.” Christian Scientists have been criticized through the years for not being out there with charities to help the poor--there is an image of people in Christian Science being conservative and well-off, comfortable in their "prayer chairs."

This is devil talk and we should be able to recognize it as such. The real problem is that God has become irrelevant and has been replaced by Government in the minds of most of our citizens - who just do not seem to realize that Government has far, far more money than any rich people, and it has no ownership, no accountability, and far far more potential to undermine our individual rights and freedom.
Those of us awake have a solemn responsibility - not to be consumed with helping feed the poor - as Jesus said in rebuking Judas for complaining that Mary was wasting expensive ointment on the Master that would be better spent on the poor: "For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always."
Christian Science has virtually disappeared off the face the earth - is not it more important 'TO WORK, WATCH AND PRAY." - to concentrate our efforts in spiritualizing thought, and seeing real, vital Christian Science reach mankind?

Re: No respecter of persons

Growing up in an active Christian home, grandfather, uncles, nephew all missionaries, it has been an adjustment to have faith in the primarily mental nature of Christian Science "missionary" work. I sometimes have yearned for hands-on! And yet, Mrs. Eddy recognized the immense influence watching can have on the world when done faithfully. Now, looking at how our website is reaching every corner of the earth… We must hold fast to our faith, and do the work earnestly, "having an absolute faith that all things are possible to God, a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love."(S&H)

If thinking does not change, nothing has changed! It is a Mental universe.

You can throw all the money in the world at Afganistan, but as long as it remains in the grasp of ignorance and idiocy, it will not and cannot improve.
