Does searching alone get the job done?

My practitioner noted this morning that this question is not directly answered in the Responsive Reading. However, I think the lesson answers it in several places: No, you can’t find God simply by searching. (I mentioned in last week’s forum how I was constantly combing S&H looking for that one, a-ha healing phrase, for all the good that did me.) It is the doing and the practice that get us closer to God. The Bible this week gives us a long checklist of active examples on how get closer to God:
• Prepare your heart
• Stretch out your hand toward him
• Put away iniquity (sin, vice, etc.), don’t let wickedness in
• Walk uprightly, work righteousness, speak the truth in your heart
• Don’t backbiteth with your tongue (speak evilly against someone)
• Do no evil toward your neighbor nor take up a reproach against your neighbor

Any one of those is a good place to start!
