condemned already

I read in the lesson that those who do not believe in Jesus are condemned already. It must mean that he is condemned who has not believed in his own divinely bestowed nature and individuality as a son, but has "accepted the mortal model."
We are out of God´s loop as long as we don´t understand who we are.
It is not God condemning us, but our own erroneous thinking holds us in the mortal dream.

Then I read from Science and Health: to emulate Jesus Christ in all His ways and to imitate His mighty works. Wow. That seems unlikely, but it is a goal to have before me. Far off. I feel I am just barely emerging.

Jesus also said "Be ye therefore perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect." Who is saying: "Ridiculously daunting!" The Adam-man. Admit it, we will NEVER fix that, or be able to "imitate his mighty works." So that is not the answer. S&H: "a perfect Principle and idea, — perfect God and perfect man, — as the basis of thought and demonstration." This is where we start! not aim for - working out from God, not up to Him.

Re: condemned already

Citation 9 in the Bible speaks to this.

Paraphrase -- "I count myself not to have apprehended everything, but I press toward the mark of the prize of the calling -- as many as be perfect be thus minded."

And also, we are condemned if we love the darkness rather than the light.

I can this very moment reflect God - but, I have to let God use me, and put everything on the altar. Doesn't mean we don't have work to do - or that this is a one time thing.

Re: condemned already

S&H citation 6 --

brings me to tears practically -- but not for pity of myself or Jesus -- there's something so precious about this message. Jesus "exploring the way for us"; "in speechless agony"; "all have the cup of sorrowful effort to drink in proportion to their demonstration of his love. .."

But God is love, how can this be?!?? Ha ha.

Reminds me of Mrs. Eddy's hymn, "oer waiting harp strings of the mind their sweeps a strain, low sad and sweet whose measures bind the power of pain."

What's the sad part about?!?!?!?

To me, this is putting into words a feeling that comes from giving up the human, giving up "cherished" things. It's not sad in the typical sense - because there is understanding why we're giving it up (and if we're not giving it up with understanding, it's a dead ceremony I think). I don't know - this may all sound silly, but it's hard to put into words.

But, you can't have your cake and eat it too!! Can't seek a pleasurable human life, and seek satisfaction through Spirit at the same time.

Of course, the sorrowful effort Mrs. Eddy talks about includes facing the mockery and hatred of the world, once your demonstration of love involves challenging the world ... and the speechless agony includes the crucifixion. So, since we're not spared one individual experience, does that mean each one of us will need to face the mockery and hatred of the world, and some form of crucifixion?

Re: condemned already

The error would be to think we can or must accomplish this on our own strength and activity. Only thing that is needed it to get the error, mortal mind out of the way, and Truth will flood the scene! I can of my own self do nothing.

These questions are over my pay grade, but I can speak from experience . The flesh and Spirit war against each other, so prepare for a lifetime of meaningful employment. This is a big job. I like what Jeremy posted from Carpenter (Spiritual Precepts). Sums up this warfare from a higher perspective...

“It may be said that a Christian Scientist’s effort is not so much to manifest the Spirit of God, as to handle that which keeps the Spirit of God from being manifested through him, on the basis that all the sons of God are natural conveyors of His truth. One does not need to acquire that which belongs to him inherently.”

We each have our own individual destiny, a place in perfection, and Love doesn't play well with others, do you know what I mean? Truth, Life and Love doesn't tolerate it's opposite. As soon as you start living this Science and standing up to error -voicing good thereby destroying the lie, those clinging to the error will cause you to suffer. At least it has been that way for me. And it starts with those closest to you.

I call a practitioner in this church daily for support in this struggle. It helps tremendously!
