Reflection and Demonstration

The substance of all devotion is the reflection and demonstration of divine Love, healing sickness and destroying sin. S&H p 241 Christ Jesus taught and demonstrated the practical application of the Divine Principle and by praying for his disciples: “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” (John 17:17)so that they may be that reflection.

To sanctify from 1828 dictionary is: a) to purify; to prepare for divine service, and for partaking of holy things. Ex. 19. b)To cleanse from corruption; to purify from sin; to make holy by detaching the affections from the world and its defilements, and exalting them to a supreme love to God.

This is why the part of the humble and contrite heart is so emphasized. Slowly the things of this world, even the pleasures (so called)become minimized as the higher enjoyments of the heart are found in the Love of God and man.

Re: Reflection and Demonstration

How can I be a reflection through a "filthy" mirror? Someone recently commented with gratitude for how much his renewed thinking means to him; thought that is aligned with good, God. He said: I now know that my past life was full of problems, worry, mistakes because I was living a life without God. I was in situations where I tried to solve problems with the very same mind that created them."

This recognition is wonderful and only the power of Truth can reveal it so clearly when we allow ourselves to be the reflection we have always been.
