Be not wise?

Bible: Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

Thine own eyes = personal sense!

There are a million and one ways to remain healthy and add length to life according to PS. These beliefs are not wisdom.

Better to doubt and distrust PS rather than considering it wisdom.

So how does one live and what rules should we follow? A heart striving to find God, fearlessly overturning and rebuking error under whatever mask it hides and refusing to hate when persecuted (for obeying) is a good place to start.

Re: Be not wise?

I have come to the conclusion that mortals are much wiser than God. They, (we?) know so many things God does not know, according to Christian Science.
God does not know terrorism, war, hate, none of the innumerable diseases, evil, a material universe, a physical body, death, pain nor lust, greed, pride, fear and so on. Mortals know so many things God ignores! And the main point: God does not know mortals! And mortals do not know God. Now we got a problem, Houston.

And God saw all that he had made and behold it was very good. - Genesis

So where does that leave a mortal? Outer darkness. That which claims to be and is not.

We are addressing a mental state, so all is not lost. So it is a Christian duty to wake up people, and speak the

truth at any time to anybody in our experience (using wisdom).

Re: Be not wise?

My post of cause was tongue in the cheeck. But I think this warfare is pretty tough. Watching and praying. I have found that error often tries to convince my while I am asleep, and if I try to keep sleeping it gets worse and tries to dominate me. So, I should get up, and fight, study, read, pray, walk the floor and stomp my foot and shake my fist! I would like to know if I am the only one who has experienced this.

Re: Be not wise?

Since God does not know anything about mortals, we should never see ourselves nor any other person as a mortal. Not even the people we tend to despise. "The man I see is the man I am," is Mrs. Eddy´s teaching.

Fighting is a better state than being dominated and having dominion is a better state than fighting.

So if thought drops or you wake up and don't feel a clarity of mind, you have to do whatever is necessary to get back on top. For some it is reading others it might be working for the church.

But I strive be untouchable and unreachable by error: never impressed or mesmerized by error thereby exposing and eliminating it.

None has any right to despise another! In obedience to the Commandment we are to love our neighbor. We may dislike what they do but we cannot refuse to love. Bicknell Young puts it nicely in 1937 college:If you really love a person see him as never material!

Yes at times I have had to get up and put the nothingness of evil in its place in order for me to see its NO-THINGness. But I must say I love the way the little brown duck handled the fierce North Wind in the Little Brown Duck Shingebiss A Chippewa Indian Tale featured on the website carousel.

To handle error that way to me implies my awareness of my unity with God, my conviction of God's supremacy, it shows I understand 2+2 =4 and no one can tell me differently.I love the sense of dominion that includes!

I too have found myself at times needing to face down error at night. It has required firmness and persistence. I am also so grateful Plainfield's website, especially the audios, which I have also turned to. This week I came across a statement in the Blue Book compiled by Richard Oaks where Mrs. Eddy tells a student, when wakened in the night, to"put on your clothes-----, and don’t take them off until you have realized His Allness. Conquer the error.
