Dependence on matter?

Science and Health, p 158 Drugs, cataplasms, and whiskey are stupid substitutes for the dignity and potency of divine Mind and its efficacy to heal. It is pitiful to lead men into temptation through the byways of this wilderness world, — to victimize the race with intoxicating prescriptions for the sick, until mortal mind acquires an educated appetite for strong drink, and men and women become loathsome sots. (I might add that wine is on the list in so many societies)

It’s obvious what foresight Mrs. Eddy had through her revelation when you read the universal statistics on drug and alcoholism use, and excerpts like this: One of the difficulties in recognizing alcoholism as a disease is it just plain doesn't seem like one. It doesn't look, sound, smell and it certainly doesn't act like a disease. To make matters worse, generally it denies it exists and resists treatment.

This makes our Watches warranted, for us to work against the claim of false appetites. These take man farther away from the realization of our divine son-ship, where we may know our fulfillment and completeness.
