"God is not mocked"

Gal. 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

Isn’t that a shocker! We can’t pull the wool over God’s eyes! But it’s not God punishing us for making a bad choice, and choosing “the flesh” over “the Spirit.” It’s our own stupidity or willfulness. It’s not that God sends bad things to us—it’s that we’ve made a choice to be involved with things that end badly. Like if you put your hand on a hot stove, it will get burned. And the law of gravity—everyone knows it exists, and jumping off the roof of a building will not end well. That is not God's fault, or His punishment of us--it's our own bad choice.

If we sow “to the flesh” and are engrossed in matter or material things, we soon find that they don’t last—they rust, break, get old and out-of-date, and there’s always a newer and better one that comes on the market—and people become dissatisfied with what they have.

The things of the Spirit are permanent, never change, and bring us peace, fulfillment, and satisfaction. And the more we “sow to the Spirit,” the more glorious and beautiful life becomes, the more we see of the goodness of God, and the happier we are. Realizing the things of Spirit are from God, we are humbly grateful for everything we have, and for all the opportunities we have to serve Him. That’s a good life!
