Put her away privily

Yesterday I learned that the biblical phrase "put her away" means to divorce, which was necessary at the time of Mary and Joseph to end an engagement. This was all new information to me, and I thought it might be new to some other Forum reader as well.

Re: Put her away privily

Thank you for this. It took great trust in God for Joseph not to put Mary "away privily."!

I never could understand this. What good could it do to Mary if Joseph had left her? She still would be pregnant without a husband. Worse!
