Righteousness: Its Realm                                                          William D. McCrackan

What does it mean to think right? It means to think in accordance with Truth. It is to think in a godlike manner. Right thinking places us into unity with God, and brings us to the at-one-ment. The Psalmist sang, “As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness.”
Only through right thinking can men experience the joy of knowing God as He truly is, the source of infinite bounty, harmony, happiness, and health. All unrighteous thinking operates to hide God’s face from men, and to prevent the clear recognition of Truth. To think right brings constant blessings, definite answers, and great rewards.
Only by right thinking can mankind hear the voice of the good Shepherd calling to His sheep. Jesus once explained, “He that is of God heareth God’s words”; and when he stood before Pilate he made the statement, both comforting and full of warning: “Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” To be “of the truth” is to be truthful, to think right, and act rightly. To be “of the truth” means to be in that attitude of mind which is constantly uncovering what is untrue, and proving it to be unreal. This process applied to sin and sickness destroys them. Truth is ever wiping out error, and the realization of this fact operates as the effectual prayer referred to by James as potent, not only to save the sinner, but to heal the sick as well.
Truth is powerful. One cannot understand it and still remain passive. Truth is never quiescent. Once it has entered human consciousness, it begins to transform that consciousness into the likeness of the anointed. As our understanding of the truth grows, so does the power to reflect it. Spiritual certainty and the peace of God await all those who are learning to think right.
