Jonah

This is the first time that I've noticed in the story of Jonah that he willingly asked to be thrown in the raging sea even though it might have meant his death but at least the other sailors and passengers would be saved. So while he did flee from his task of preaching on Nineveh he was still a quality person who did not want others punished for his lapse in judgment.

Re: Jonah

Jonah must have had some desirable qualities, which must be why God chose him to go to Nineveh. But it shows how we all have to be alert not to heed mortal minds suggestions. He probably heard one of those negatives that comes to dissuade us from doing God's will; like when we know we must forgive and that relentless voice keeps emphasizing and attaching the wrong done to person or place. This makes it difficult to see through the mist of materiality and therefore difficult forgive.

Jonah couldn't see past material sinful men in Nineveh who deserved to be punished.
